Bun Helsing

Bun Helsing

Bun Helsing is the clearest example of a mode switch done well. Van Bun and Bun Helsing modes are explained in terms of frequency, average and ceiling, the duel adds either random wilds or multiplying wilds, and each mode has its own free spins round. Stake publishes the paytable, the bet range and the max win for each mode. The 50,000x headline needs Double Up, and the RTP listings differ slightly.

Van Helsing hunted vampires. Bun Helsing hunts Van Bun, and both of them are rabbits. This comic horror parody from Knucklehead Syndicate was released in March 2026, and Juice later reported that it had crossed a million bets in its first week. Its hook is a choice of two modes with very different risk profiles, and a duel between hunter and vampire every time a VS wild lands.

Juice's own games page listed $2.11M wagered across 1.7M bets over the 30 days to mid-October 2026.

Bun Helsing at a glance
Bun Helsing is a 5x5 slot with 15 fixed paylines and a published RTP of 96.61%. You choose Van Bun mode (high volatility, more frequent free spins, max 10,000x) or Bun Helsing mode (extreme volatility, rarer free spins, max 25,000x). Coffin and sword VS symbols are expanding wilds that trigger a 2x to 100x duel. With Double Up the ceiling reaches 50,000x.

Hunter versus vampire

The art leans into gothic comedy: a graveyard under the moon, coffins and crucifixes, and two rabbits at the centre of it all. Bun Helsing is the vampire hunter; Van Bun is the bunny vampire. The premium symbols are the hunter's kit and the vampire's lair - vials, chalices, a book and a crucifix - with 10 to A at the bottom of the paytable.

The two rabbits are not just mascots. Each one gives its name to a mode, a free spins round and an outcome of the duel, so the theme is built into every part of the game.

Two modes, two kinds of risk

The mode choice is the first decision you make, and Stake describes the trade-off plainly:

  • Van Bun mode: high volatility, free spins arrive more often, the average bonus is lower, and the ceiling is 10,000x.
  • Bun Helsing mode: extreme volatility, free spins are rarer, the average bonus is higher, and the ceiling is 25,000x.

Above both sits Double Up, which takes the overall maximum to 50,000x. That is an unusually transparent way to present a volatility switch: you know in advance not just that one mode is riskier, but what you get in return.

How the paylines work

Wins pay left to right on 15 fixed paylines across a 5x5 grid, for three or more matching symbols. On a 1.00 bet, Stake lists these pays for three, four and five of a kind:

  • Van Bun and Bun Helsing: 2, 10 and 20
  • Book and crucifix: 1, 5 and 10
  • Vial and chalice: 0.6, 3 and 5
  • 10 to A: 0.2, 0.4 and 1

Features in Bun Helsing

VS wilds and the duel

Coffin and sword VS symbols are expanding wilds. When one lands, two multipliers are shown and Van Bun duels Bun Helsing, with a multiplier from 2x to 100x at stake. Bun Helsing shares this duelling-wild engine with Sheikhs Vs Snakes, but here the winner does more than set a number.

What each winner brings

If Van Bun wins, random wilds are added to the reels. If Bun Helsing wins, random multiplying wilds are added instead. Either outcome adds to the board beyond the expanded reel, which makes the duel the main source of value in the base game.

Van Bun Free Spins

In Van Bun mode, three or more scatters award 8, 12 or 16 free spins, and the Play Wheel can boost the count.

Bun Helsing Free Spins

In Bun Helsing mode, three or more scatters award between 5 and 25 free spins, again with a Play Wheel boost. The wider range fits the mode's extreme volatility: fewer bonuses, with more riding on each one.

Buying in

Stake lists a Game Enhancer at 2x the bet per spin, Bonus Buy 1 at 110x and Bonus Buy 2 at 300x. Whether these are available depends on the casino and on the rules where you play.

Who should play it

Bun Helsing suits players who want to set their own risk level within one game. Van Bun mode is the gentler entry point with a lower ceiling; Bun Helsing mode is for those who accept long waits for a shot at the bigger prize. Both are volatile, and neither should be played with money you need.

Where to play Bun Helsing

Bun Helsing launched as a Stake exclusive, and Juice has offered Knucklehead Syndicate games to other operators since August and September 2026. Our Stake review explains what the casino offers. Stake is a Curaçao-licensed site, so check that it is legal to play there where you live.

For the studio's other dark comedy, try The Family Death. Knucklehead Brothers also turns its wilds into a two-sided showdown. You will find the rest in our slot reviews.

Our verdict on Bun Helsing

Bun Helsing takes a familiar duelling-wild engine and gives it more to say. The two modes are explained with real numbers, the duel outcomes add extra wilds rather than just a multiplier, and each mode has its own bonus round. With a 96.61% RTP and a published paytable, it is easy to understand what you are signing up for.

The 50,000x headline needs Double Up, and the gentler mode stops at 10,000x, so pick your mode with the ceilings in mind.

Play within your means. Set a budget and a session limit, and take a break if it stops being fun.
